6th May 2010 Fostering Irish Craft Makers of the Future: Grants and Awards presented to Craft Students and Recent Graduates
Thursday 6 May 2010 - The Crafts Council of Ireland announced the winners of over 20 grants and awards at a ceremony held at the National Museum, Collins Barracks earlier today. These included the Crafts Council of Ireland’s Future Makers awards and grants 2010, the Irish Arts Review / Crafts Council of Ireland Emerging Maker Award and the House and Home / Crafts Council of Ireland Student Design Award.

Honouring Traditions in Irish Glassmaking Bursary to Fund Study & Exhibition on Heritage of Glass Cutting and Engraving in Ireland
The world-renowned skills of Irish master cutters and engravers is to be documented in a unique research study on the heritage of glassmaking in Ireland and will become the subject of a major exhibition in 2011, following the announcement of the Crafts Council of Ireland’s Irish Craft Bursary. Róisín de Buitléar is the recipient of a €15,000 Irish Craft Bursary which enables her to initiate the creation of an historical record of the techniques of former Waterford Crystal master engravers and cutters.

24th April 2009 Organic Geometry at the National Craft Gallery, Kilkenny
Organic Geometry is the name of the exhibition which opens on Saturday 2nd May in the National Craft Gallery, the Crafts Council of Ireland’s (CCoI) flagship exhibition space in Kilkenny. One of Ireland’s most promising young furniture designers is taking New York by storm. Joseph Walsh from Riverstick in county Cork was invited to exhibit his wonderful bespoke designs in the prestigious American Irish Historical Society (AIHS) on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue, and the show is proving such a hit that it has been extended by one month to the end of November.
