NEW CITY CENTRE SHOPPING EXPERIENCE FOR MADE IN KILKENNY CRAFT TRAIL GROUP

26th March 2012

An exciting new and innovative pilot business venture known as MADE in Kilkenny @ GOODS will take place on the first floor mezzanine of GOODS Department store on High St, Kilkenny.

GOODS of High St are 'MADE' up with Kilkenny Craft.

Set to open on Friday 30th March, with the official launch taking place that evening from 6pm to 8pm, the new retail outlet will run for a six month period and will sell handmade products from the MADE in Kilkennycraftmakers. To celebrate GOODS and MADE in Kilkenny are offering 20% off selected brands and crafts this Friday and Saturday, 30th and 31st March 2012.

The long established GOODS department store, which celebrates 85 years of a sterling retail reputation, and the pioneeering MADE in Kilkenny craft trail group have come together to provide a brand new city centre shopping experience for local customers and visiting tourists, showcasing some of the finest artisian talents in Kilkenny city and county.

Following the great success of recent MADE in Kilkenny Pop Up shops, Greg Good of GOODS explains how he was inspired to initiate the collaboration with the craft group. Kilkenny has such a strong tradition of craft and Good's a long history in retailing in Kilkenny we thought it was a wonderful opportunity to bring our customers something local, something unique and something which really compliments our identity as a Kilkenny business. We had seen and been impressed with the previous MADE in Kilkenny pop up shops and after our initial discussions with Rosemarie Durr (MADE in Kilkenny Chairperson) and the team we were really sold on the idea of Made in Kilkenny @ Goods.

MADE in Kilkenny, established in 2009, consists of 27 craft members who have combined their drive and passion for their craft to initiate professional makers coming together to directly promote their business, increase public awareness of their craft and of Kilkenny as a tourist destination. MADE in Kilkenny consists of some of Ireland's finest craftmakers.

MADE in Kilkenny @ GOODS will be offically opened by Karen Hennessy, Chief Executive of the Crafts Council of Ireland on Friday 30th March on the first floor mezzanine in GOODS. An extensive range of beautiful and skillfully handmade products from all disciplines will go on sale with a diverse range of price points to suit all budgets and tastes and all gift occassions.

Open Monday-Saturday, 9.30am-6pm.
