Artist statement
As a jeweller and silversmith, living and working on an island, my principal objective over the past eighteen years has been to recreate, using a wide variety of original materials and techniques, the rich colours and textures of the surrouding landscape and the abundant marine life of the ocean. Form and texture have always played an important role in my approach to both design and execution and, in recent years, I have developed related skills in wax carving and modelling to enhance the sculptural element and enable the finished work to be presented with a greater degree of contrast and vitality.
