This course aims to develop a range of skills to such a level of quality that those who complete it will be able to follow careers in the industry according to their talents, strengths and aspirations. To achieve this, the course combines the sound technical training required by the modern workshop and industry at large, and the trainees’ creative development according to their talents and abilities. As a result, graduates have the ability to respond confidently to changing markets.

Creative Island will once again take centre stage at Showcase 2013 - Ireland's Creative Expo. Makers of crafted pieces exclusively Imagined, Designed and Made in Ireland are invited to submit an application form to the Crafts Council of Ireland.

Closing date: Friday 13th April 2012.

All students undertaking a fulltime craft course or apprenticeship and anyone who graduated from a full time course in craft or established a craft enterprise in the past 5 years is eligible to apply!

It’s a fantastic opportunity to have you and your work profiled as well as the potential to win many of the awards and supports. Remember that the more applicants we get the easier it is for us to ensure and develop the range of supports in Future Years.

We’ve made a few changes this year, we’ve extended the deadline for applications to March 27^th and added a few new awards and supports including:

Rare solo exhibition by this  seminal Irish maker based in the Netherlands.

The exhibition will be opened by Michael Robinson former curator of Applied Arts, Ulster Museum Northern Ireland, on Friday 20th January at 6pm. Preceded by an artist's talk at 5pm
